LUCKE, Reinhold (Ron)
August 9, 1929 – June 18, 2016

Reinhold passed away peacefully at Richmond Hospital on June 18, 2016 at the age of 86. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Emilie Lucke, his four children Ingrid, Henry (Linda), Veronica (Brendan) and Joseph (Brannon) and nine grandchildren, Justin, Andrea, Nadine, Liam, Cassandra, Ethan, Brooke, Hailey and Griffin along with many friends and family throughout BC and Germany.

The second son of Heinrich and Emilie Lucke, Reinhold was born in Hohenbach, Poland, where he lived with his three brothers, Oswald, Ernst and Siegfried and his sister Hildegard. After the war, he moved to Germany and learned his trade as a master mason before immigrating to Canada in 1954. Settling in Vancouver, Reinhold built a reputation as a hardworking and skilled tradesman. Evidence of his work can still be seen around Richmond and throughout Vancouver. He extended his skills to becoming a general contractor although his favourite project was always his beloved house in Summerland.

In 1957, it was by chance that he saw a woman he was instantly drawn to—little did he know he would meet her in two weeks for a blind date and that they would be married 6 months later. Reinhold and Emilie settled in Richmond to raise their family. He was a loyal and caring husband and father who always made it a priority to provide well for his family.

Reinhold loved being outdoors. He was happiest when he was hunting or fishing with friends or hiking, swimming, camping or skiing with his family. Later in life, he became passionate about sailing and bike riding. He will be dearly missed by us all, but we know he will always be close and watching over us.

Prayer service will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 7:00 pm and Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 30 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 4451 Williams Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Reinhold’s memory to Richmond Hospital Foundation, 7000 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC, V6X 1A2.
