<div itemprop="description">Nestor Suplido Planta, died 20 January 2017 in Vancouver, BC. He is survived by Joy Planta, his wife of 45 years; daughter Su, son-in-law Ian Duncan, and granddaughter Nieves; son Philip, daughter-in-law Anabel Ho, grandson Tristan; son John-Paul, daughter-in-law Cheryl Antonio and grandsons Jaxson and Jace. <br> <br> <br> <br>Born in Iloilo, Philippines, on 26 February 1943, Nestor moved to Canada in 1969 and made his home in Vancouver where he raised his family and cultivated strong friendships. He also maintained strong connections with his native homeland, visiting every opportunity he had. <br> <br> <br> <br>Industrious and enterprising, Nestor worked in many fields from accounting, commercial fishing, logistics, wholesale and retail clothing and denim manufacturing. <br> <br> <br> <br>Boating and fishing in Vancouver's harbours were a source of enjoyment. Good humoured and genial, he derived great pleasure from giving small gifts and famously fresh produce as a sign of his friendship and goodwill. <br> <br> <br> <br>Nestor will be remembered and missed by his family and many friends who were touched by his warmth, kindness and generosity. <br> <br> <br> <br>The family wishes to thank all those who visited Nestor during his hospital stay and the acute and palliative care teams at Vancouver General Hospital. <br> <br> <br> <br>A mass will be held in his memory on Friday, 27 January 2017, 11:100am at St. Patrick's Church, 2882 Main Street, Vancouver, BC, with a reception to follow at the St. Patrick's Shamrock Hall. <br> <br> <br> <br>Donations in Lieu of flowers to the BC Cancer Foundation.
