SMITH, Clara Jardine

September 18, 1916 - Winnipeg, Manitoba

August 17, 2015 - Richmond, B.C.

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on August 17, 2015 in Richmond, B.C.at the age of 98. Clara was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba; one of three children of Peter and Hilda Myrold. She attended Daniel McIntyre High and later worked as a stenographer. She married her husband Herbert in 1946 and raised two children. Initially they lived on a farm in Prairie Grove and later moved to the City. In 1978 she and Herb retired to Penticton where she was active in the Norwegian Club and loved to bowl, golf and play bridge. Her final two years were in the loving care of her daughter Ruth in Richmond. All who knew Clara found her to be a pleasant and caring person. She had an easy going personality, a charming smile that would light up a room and a positive attitude. Many enjoyable vacations were spent with mom and dad in Penticton. Mom took up golf in her 60s and played her last game at the age of 95. Clara was predeceased by her husband Herbert in 1987, her sister Margeth Myrold and her brother Arthur Myrold. She is lovingly remembered by her children Ruth (Dave) Larrigan and Carl (Velma) Smith; grandchildren Coleen (Jonathan) Auld, Ian (Janice) Zapfesmith and Darrell (Sydney) Smith and her seven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 7100 Granville Avenue, Richmond, on September 2 at 3 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded to the family under the Guestbook section of this online memorial.
