<div itemprop="description"><br><br>Alice Hawkins February 8, 1922 - October 9, 2016 It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Alice Hawkins on October 9th at Courtyard Gardens following a brief illness. She will be sadly missed by her son Larry (Judy) and grandson Danny, and by her son Gary and grandchildren Zackary and Iris. Alice was predeceased by her husband Bert in January 2002.<br><br>Alice was born in Fort Frances Ontario, attended Ottawa Teachers College and taught school in Pembroke, Ontario. There she met serviceman Bert Hawkins who was stationed at nearby Camp Petawawa. They were married in March 1945 and moved to Vancouver and then on to Richmond in 1958. Alice began teaching elementary school in Richmond in 1964 and continued until retirement in 1984.<br><br>In her retirement, Alice became involved with bridge, golf and the South Arm Community Association where she served as a trustee for a number of years. As well, she was president of South Arm Seniors for five years. Alice was active with the Mylora Ladies Golf Club and enjoyed Palm Springs winter golf vacations with Bert. <br><br>The family would especially like to thank the staff at Courtyard Gardens for the many years of care and comfort they provided to Alice. A memorial service will be held at a future date; contact hawkins8642@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.<br><br></div>
